During this workshop you will learn the dynamics of cutting and hand stitching traditional mohair bears or bunnies. Be taught all the stitches used in bear or bunny making. Including, how to insert glass eyes and cotter pin joints. Held in the magnificent Richardson Conservatory within Scampston Walled Garden.

Meet and make a Nico, Roxy, OOAK bears, or Bonny bunny, depending on your previous experience. All traditional handmade bears and bunnies designed by Jacqueline.

These 1920’s style bears and bunnies are made using 100% Schulte Steiff mohair, fully movable cotter pin joints, glass eyes and an embroidered snout. They have plastic pellets in their tummies and are stuffed with polyester stuffing. These delightful characters are about 23cm high when standing and 17cm when sitting.

Lunch options:
You are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat in the conservatory. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day.

Alternatively, there is a café adjacent to the conservatory.

If this is your first time with Jacqueline you will be invited to make Nico. Nico is made using multidirectional mohair, therefore suitable for beginners. You should be able to complete your bear in 2 days. However, should you not Jacqueline will have demonstrated the process in full.

If you have been to a previous bear making workshop with Jacqueline you will be invited to make Roxy or Bonny. Please email Jacqueline with your preference.

Suitable fo Adults
Due to the ratinee (multi directional mohair) this workshop is suitable for all levels from complete beginners to those more experienced bear makers. We do recommend some basic sewing skills.
Please note that due to some materials Nico is a collector bear, not a toy.

All bookings for this workshop are made direct with Jacqueline the tutor.
